About the role
- Senior Application Engineer supporting Agile Release Train within a value stream for digital solutions in Bern. Focused on optimal management of infrastructure assets and supportive planning for construction portfolios.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for work within an agile team organized according to SAFe.
- Supporting the development of new and existing software and their interfaces – from analysis through implementation and testing to deployment.
- Analyzing business processes and eliciting agreed requirements for IT systems together with the Product Owner and the agile team.
- Creating technical specifications for systems and interfaces; developing and documenting data models and process landscapes.
- Translating and mediating between business and IT for internal and external IT teams.
- Supporting features and user stories with the Product Owner and end users – from creation through integration.
- Ensuring high software quality through appropriate know-how and testing experience.
Requirements
- Tertiary education in Computer Science or Business Informatics (HF, FH, ETH, university) or equivalent further training.
- At least 5 years of experience with IT projects, agile software development, and requirements engineering.
- Solid knowledge in business analysis, use-case modeling, and agile project methodologies.
- Quick grasp of complex topics, high initiative, and readiness to take responsibility.
- Structured, results-oriented working style and ability to produce clear documentation.
- Experience with Enterprise Integration Patterns (e.g., messaging), Java 21+, Spring Boot, microservices, ESTA stack, Kafka, REST.
- Experience with IntelliJ, test frameworks (unit testing), CI/CD tools, Bitbucket, Confluence, Jira, and cloud platforms (OpenShift, AWS, Azure).
