Senior Highway Design Engineer designing rehabilitation projects in Ontario for diverse team at EXP. Conducting detailed designs and mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities
Prepare preliminary design reports (PDR), design criteria, preliminary and detailed designs associated with new and/or the rehabilitation of divided highways, arterial regional roads, collector roads, and local roads.
Prepare preliminary designs for CADD staff and review drawings for compliance with applicable industry and client standards.
Prepare Contract Specifications, Tender Documents, and Applications for Agency Approvals.
Review and issue finalized Shop Drawings.
Coordinate and mentor junior staff working within the division.
Liaise with Clients, Sub-consultants, Contractors and construction supervision staff.
Assist with the preparation of Proposals for future projects.
Requirements
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario with PEO with 10+ years, preferably from a consulting engineering office environment in Ontario.
Experience on P3, Design-Build and Infrastructure Ontario-Metrolinx projects would be an asset.
Approved in MTO-RAQS under the Highway Engineering-Detailed Design Category for Detailed Design - Multilane Arterial & Expressway.
Emphasis and proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D. Experience with earlier versions of MicroStation and InRoads will be considered.
Strong computer software skills with ProjectWise, Word, Excel & MS Project.
Highly proficient in the use of MTO’s software applications CPS and HiCo.
Comprehensive knowledge with MTO and Metrolinx standards, including various Municipal & Regional design and drafting standards.
Skilled in cost estimating, quantity preparation and specification writing.
Have a track record of gaining approval of infrastructure designs from MTO, roads authorities and environmental agencies.
Independent, Organized and Motivated Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills; and
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and deliver projects under stringent schedules in a fast-paced turnaround environment.
