About the role
- Library Security Supervisor overseeing security personnel operations at Austin Public Library venues. Ensuring a safe environment for patrons and managing security activities.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the activities and operations of Austin Public Library security personnel
- Manage presence and activities of scheduled security personnel at all Library locations
- Secures security contracts through the City’s bidding process
- Provide direction and training to security personnel and other City departments
- Review site documentation, activity, and incident reports for the department
- Issue, manage, and enforce Criminal Trespass Notices (CTN)
- Anticipate and solve problems for Library patrons
- Monitor welfare of security personnel working after-hours
- Respond to emergency situations and alarm notifications
- Provide periodic reports to management regarding site activities
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent
- Five (5) years’ experience in a security-related position
- Two (2) years in a lead or supervisor capacity
- May require a valid Texas Driver License
- Proven supervisory experience overseeing security staff in a 24-hour, 365-day operation
- Demonstrated experience planning, scheduling, and coordinating security operations for special events
- Experience using Security Access Control and CCTV systems (e.g., Pelco, American Dynamics, Avigilon, or similar systems)
- Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel)
