Field Service Technician responsible for installation and servicing of fiber optic equipment. Ensuring customer satisfaction and performing various technical tasks as directed by the Field Service Manager.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the installation and servicing of Alpha products
Fiber splicing in outside plant enclosures
Splicing inside commercial buildings
Running Patch cords in Headend/CO’s, activating equipment
Enclosure Changeouts/Fiber Cutovers, Pole Moves, Maintenance window work
Using OTDR, Power Meters, VFL, and Light identifiers
Perform network splicing and certification as well as circuit testing
Respond to corrective network problems
Perform cutovers and upgrades on the network as directed by work orders
Ensure required information is reported to the correct parties
Accurately prepare and complete concise reports relating to repair data
Perform customer/partner training on repair practices and system operation
Requirements
Fiber Splicing experience preferred
Experience in the CATV, telecommunications and/or power industries highly desirable
Ability to work at heights over 30ft
Ability to use fiber test equipment, OTDR, Spectrum Analyzer, Light Identifier, Power Source, etc.
Ability to lift equipment/ladders up to 75lbs
Good English speaking/communication skills required (verbal and written)
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong computer skills using MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
Valid Driver's License is required
