Sr Pipeline Engineer responsible for design oversight and construction execution support in pipeline projects at Enbridge. Ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance for significant pipeline infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Ensure that all pipelines and associated facilities are designed in accordance with all regulations, applicable industry codes, and corporate specifications and standards.
Assist during cost estimating to provide clear scope definition and technical expertise.
Responsible for schedule, cost controls, and forecast updates for the pipeline engineering and design work and for reporting these to the Pipeline Engineering Supervisor and Project Manager.
Participate and provide guidance in design reviews with third party engineering firms and with internal stakeholders such as System Planning, Operations, Construction, ROW, Regulatory, Environment and other SMEs for review and approval of design criteria and construction drawing packages.
Work with Procurement & Supply Chain team to purchase materials and to contract Engineering related service providers.
Provide technical assistance during construction and assist with on-site commissioning.
Assist with the regulatory process by providing preliminary layout drawings, technical project descriptions and other requested information for use in permit application filings.
Interact with third party engineering firms as well as internal disciplines including Project Development Leads, Project Managers, Construction, Operations, Business Development, Marketing, Systems Planning, Procurement & Supply Chain, Regulatory, Lands, Environment and others.
Develop and maintain project specific records such as Key Project Assumptions, Design Basis Memorandum and Engineering Decision Records.
Ensure lessons learned from previous projects are incorporated into the design and industry best practices are considered.
Participate in the development and maintenance of company design guidelines.
Support department initiatives as required.
Provide training and mentoring to new personnel or others as required.
Requirements
An Engineering degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical or other related Engineering field.
7 or more years’ related experience in the oil and gas pipeline industry.
In depth, detailed knowledge of applicable codes such as 49CFR 192/195, ASME B31, NACE, etc.
Familiarity and knowledge of materials standards & specifications (CSA, ASME, API, MSS, etc.).
Experience with trench-less design and feasibility analysis.
Experience working with geotechnical and hydro-technical hazards.
Experience with the FERC Filing process (Pre-File, 7(c), prior notice, blanket certificates & permits) and knowledge of the filing process in Canada.
Preferred: Professional Engineering License in the United States.
