About the role

  • Director of Strategic Communications leading Ecojustice’s communication and marketing strategies. Developing plans, growing audience engagement, and guiding brand consistency within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • lead Ecojustice’s strategic communications and marketing efforts to strengthen our brand, expand our audience, and grow mission impact
  • develop and execute annual communications plans that define priorities, audiences, key messages, tactics, and success measures
  • collaborate closely with Philanthropy leadership to align marketing and communications strategies that deepen supporter engagement and contribute to donor growth
  • champion brand consistency across the organization, ensuring clear, compelling storytelling and high‑quality communications across all channels
  • use data, analytics, and media insights to evaluate performance and continuously improve digital, media, and audience‑engagement strategies
  • identify emerging opportunities and risks in the external landscape and guide Ecojustice’s communications response
  • build and lead a high‑performing communications team, cultivating a collaborative, inclusive, and growth‑oriented culture
  • collaborate as a program leader to develop strategic communications plans and be a part of long term program planning
  • serve as a member of Ecojustice’s leadership team, contributing strategic insight, organizational leadership, and thoughtful decision‑making to advance the organization’s mission

Requirements

  • advanced education or training in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, public affairs, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of senior‑level experience and professional development
  • significant experience (benchmark of 10 years) in strategic communications, marketing, public relations, or a related discipline, with progressive leadership responsibilities
  • demonstrated ability to shape and deliver high‑impact communications strategies
  • proven senior leadership experience, including leading multi‑disciplinary teams, developing talent, and overseeing performance
  • experience designing and evaluating organizational‑level strategic plans, and leading major cross‑functional initiatives
  • strong relationship‑building and partnership development skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across senior leadership teams and external stakeholders
  • exceptional communication, strategic thinking, problem‑solving, and organizational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities with accuracy and sound judgment
  • strong decision‑making abilities, with a track record of assessing risks, allocating resources strategically, and guiding communications efforts that advance organizational impact
