Ensures effective operation and maintenance of all laboratory equipment, manages testing, develops and manages budgets, meets customer service levels, and regulatory requirements.
Manages staff including scheduling, performance management, and fostering employee engagement.
Monitors and oversees implementation of process improvements to meet or enhance quality and service targets.
Takes accountability and resolves next level escalation on customer service issues.
Assists in developing and implementing operations budget.
Monitors financial, volume, and productivity data to meet targets.
Implements cost reduction opportunities when identified.
Develops and maintains laboratory policies and procedures.
May have accountability for management of a non-laboratory department.
Performance management of employees, including performance reviews.
Hires and onboards new employees.
Trains, orients, and maintains competencies for employees.
Maintains scheduling, time off approval and timecard sign-off.
Maintains optimal staffing.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field or Health, Education, and Welfare(HEW) equivalency exam (pre 1988) with seven years of relevant experience
3+ years of Laboratory experience
4+ years of progressive management accountability
Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) certification by a recognized agency such as ASCP, AMT, or NCA in specialty area incumbent will be working in or related specialty certification such as Histotechnologist (HTL), or Cytotechnologist (CT) upon hire required
