About the role

  • Rail Logistics Maintenance and Cost Execution Engineer optimizing logistics operations at Dow, utilizing technical expertise and data analysis for process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes logistics knowledge, technical expertise and operations experience to assist in correcting process or equipment issues which improve process performance and reliability.
  • Works with technical advising and logistics operations personnel to create methods to optimize operations.
  • Participates in advanced troubleshooting and coach others to learn these skills. Implement best practices.
  • Interacts with other Dow (global) regions to resolve order issues for inter-area shipments.
  • Ensures Most Effective Technology and specific operating discipline requirements are in place.
  • Interfaces with third party logistics providers and ensure contractual obligations are met with no penalties or fines incurred.
  • Initiates changes to operating procedures to ensure that they are valid and up-to-date and communicates technical information and issues to operations and/or technology.
  • Supports and assists with QN investigation and identification of corrective and preventative measures.
  • Administers trade lane contracts where needed to maximize benefits to Dow.
  • Responds to and resolve customer or internal product quality or service incidents.
  • Supports Procurement tender negotiation and implementation with operational expertise.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Supply Chain or Manufacturing environment.
  • Must possess a TWIC card or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
  • Logistics Operations: Ability to manage and execute day‑to‑day rail and multimodal logistics activities, ensuring timely shipments, compliance with operating disciplines, and resolution of order issues across regions.
  • Data Analysis: Skill in interpreting KPIs, S&OP, and Control Tower data to identify trends, diagnose performance or cost issues, and develop actionable insights using tools like Excel, Access, and Power BI.
  • Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA): Competence in investigating logistics non‑conformances, performing root‑cause analysis, implementing corrective measures, and establishing preventive controls to maintain process reliability.
  • Supplier Performance Management (PM): Ability to monitor and manage carriers, warehouses, and third‑party logistics providers against contractual obligations, drive improvement plans, and support procurement negotiations.
  • Process Improvements: Expertise in optimizing logistics processes and equipment through troubleshooting, implementing best practices, and updating operating procedures to enhance efficiency and reliability.
