About the role

  • Senior Commercial Manager at Direct Line Group developing supplier strategies and managing complex contracts. Leading stakeholder engagement and driving commercial projects within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Develop long-term value-adding supplier and relationship strategies for critical suppliers
  • Translate functional objectives into specific category strategies
  • Develop annual plans in liaison with Business Partners, Category Head and Sourcing teams
  • Lead the management of complex supplier contracts, operational reviews, and in-contract negotiations
  • Identify emerging risks and issues in relation to existing controls
  • Ensure risks identified are actioned and addressed to a satisfactory level
  • Attend the Category Sourcing Committee as requested
  • Lead on commercial management and projects
  • Engage with Business Partners and develop stakeholder networks and management approaches
  • Manage sourcing and/or commercial managers as required
  • Develop coaching relationships at all levels

Requirements

  • Experience in a commercial contract management role
  • Sound contract knowledge
  • Good grasp on principles of Category Management and Category Planning
  • Experience in managing material outsource and/or offshore suppliers (not essential but highly desirable)
  • Ability to work with suppliers to resolve commercial issues
  • Excellent contract and compliance knowledge
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
