Responsibilities
Develops accounting, expenditure and commitment control procedures
Maintains financial, accounting and records management systems and ensures compliance with corporate policies
Provides financial/accounting and budget planning advice to business units and divisions required for decision making
Identifies and recommends changes to policies, procedures and systems to enhance financial management and best practices
Implements business improvements and system enhancements to improve accounting and reporting
Collaborates with business units to maintain the Charts of Accounts
Plans and develops a financial calendar to ensure critical deadlines are met
Develops financial reports to track and monitor budgets, commitments and expenditures
Oversees the production of financial reports including reasonableness of asset, liability, revenue and expenditure accounts
Advises managers in planning and coordination of budgets
Analyzes all budget and forecast submissions for management
Provides financial management and budget planning advice and training to staff
Resolves accounting and system issues by researching applicable accounting standards
Requirements
Professional accounting designation or post-secondary degree or diploma in financial management or business administration
Preference may be given to those with three or more years of recent, related experience
Experience in developing financial reports and implementing budget allocations
Experience analyzing financial data for variances and trends and making recommendations
Experience interpreting policies and legislation and providing advice and guidance for decision making
Experience leading staff and managing resources
In-depth knowledge of GAAP accounting systems and techniques
Experience using SAP Business ByDesign software will be considered an asset
Strong communications and negotiations skills
Knowledge of the tourism industry, specifically British Columbia, would be considered an asset
Successful completion of security screening may include a criminal records check, and/or CRRA check, and/or enhanced security screening checks as required.
