About the role

  • As an Accountant at Packmatic, you manage financial processes and ensure compliance with regulations. Join a leading digital platform transforming the packaging industry in Berlin.

Responsibilities

  • You handle the account assignment and posting of routine business transactions and supporting documents — always in compliance with GoBD, HGB and internal policies.
  • You assist with preparatory tasks for monthly and annual financial statements (e.g., reconciliations, document reviews, preparation of provisions).
  • You monitor open and clearing items (accounts receivable/accounts payable), investigate discrepancies and ensure timely payment runs.
  • You manage travel expense claims including validation, account assignment and prompt reimbursement.
  • You are responsible for issuing outgoing invoices, particularly for intra‑EU (intra‑community) deliveries, including correct VAT treatment.
  • You prepare information and documentation for Controlling, the Finance Manager and auditors in a structured manner and provide them reliably.
  • You actively contribute to process improvements in the finance function (e.g., automation, standardization, interfaces, documentation).
  • You represent the Finance Manager during vacation and illness and ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.
  • You work in a data‑driven way: you maintain and validate master data, produce analyses/reports (e.g., in Excel/Google Sheets) and ensure high data quality as a basis for decisions.
  • You bring experience using an ERP system and use it confidently for postings, billing runs and reporting (e.g., DATEV, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Xentral or similar).

Requirements

  • You have completed a commercial apprenticeship or hold a degree in Business Administration — alternatively you have several years of professional experience in preparatory accounting.
  • You have solid knowledge of DATEV Unternehmen online and have ideally worked with Smart-IT.
  • You have experience with virtual card solutions such as Moss, Pleo or similar tools.
  • You are familiar with ERP systems like Xentral or have experience with comparable systems.
  • You work independently, in a structured way and with a high level of accuracy and reliability.
  • You demonstrate initiative and a strong sense of responsibility and communicate clearly, openly and solution‑oriented — both internally and externally.
  • You have a good understanding of digital tools and processes and actively support the further development of our accounting processes.
  • You have excellent German language skills, both written and spoken (level C2), and good English skills (at least B2).

Benefits

  • Ownership: You will be part of a highly motivated, versatile and successful team and have a high degree of freedom and responsibility from day one.
  • Impact: Join the company at an early stage, help shape our success and work with an exceptional team!
  • Flexibility: You will work from a great office in Berlin – Prenzlauer Berg.
  • Leadership: You will work in a company with an inspiring vision, led by experienced serial founders and backed by leading investors.
  • Appreciation and commitment: We believe in fair compensation and you will benefit from a clear growth and development path.
