About the role
- Senior Business Controller managing the development and implementation of cost controlling systems in Germany. Overseeing OPEX and CAPEX analysis, governance, and performance management.
Responsibilities
- Establish and further develop cost accounting: full responsibility for cost element, cost center and cost object accounting, including contribution margin accounting
- Design and implement cause-based allocation and distribution systems
- Automate and enhance cost accounting within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Own the end-to-end process chain from planning through posting
- Active cost control & performance management: manage and analyze OPEX and CAPEX structures
- Perform variance analyses against budget, forecast and prior year
- Identify key cost drivers and derive concrete control measures
- Actively challenge cost owners and managers: establish structured, system-based cost reporting
- Cost governance & business partnering: introduce and embed clear cost governance
- Serve as a sparring partner for division and department heads
- Prepare and present decision documents for the Executive Board and top management
- Harmonize KPI, cost structure and reporting standards across multiple entities
Requirements
- Several years of experience in cost controlling with solid expertise in conceptual and system-based cost accounting
- Experience building or transforming cost structures, ideally in multi-entity environments
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and excellent Excel skills
- Strong control mindset with a drive to actively influence costs rather than merely report them
- Ability to assert oneself and to constructively challenge at management level
- Hands-on mentality, strong execution focus and a structured, pragmatic working style
