About the role

  • ASL Interpreter providing in-person interpretation services for Deaf employees in St. Paul, MN. Working with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and occasional virtual meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Providing in-person ASL Interpretation services for Deaf employees of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in St. Paul, MN
  • VRI services may also be requested on occasion to support virtual meetings with external and geographically separated participants
  • Service requests will range in duration from a minimum of two to nine hours during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, excluding 11 federal holidays
  • Assignment longer than two hours will be staffed with a minimum of two Interpreters.
  • Interpreters will be hired and paid on a part-time, hourly basis
  • Examples of Interpreting Assignments Include:
  • • Staff meetings
  • • Commemorative programs
  • • Award ceremonies
  • • Safety talks
  • • Discussions on work procedures, policies, or assignments for formal and informal settings
  • • Quarterly performance discussions
  • • Annual performance appraisals
  • • Disciplinary discussions
  • • Basic staff training, classroom training
  • • Interviews
  • • All Hands meetings

Requirements

  • Over the age of 18 and legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Possess reliable transportation to the service location
  • National Interpreter Certification (NIC)
  • Experience performing ASL interpretation in government settings is highly preferred.
