About the role

  • Senior Project Controls Engineer ensuring project delivery aligns with scope, schedule, and budget. Mentoring junior team members and advising on project health, in the UK’s engineering and construction sector.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule Management – lead the creation, maintenance and analysis of integrated project schedules (usually P6 or MS Project), developing work breakdown structures, a critical path, and a technically solid and resourced schedule (which may include risk margin through QSRA), and managing the PMB (baseline), forecast and variance analysis. Conduct EVM analysis and critical path / total float analysis to measure and report on project schedule performance.
  • Cost and Financial Management – oversee cost activities, including estimating, budgeting, forecasting, accruals and receipting. Develop CBS in conjunction with WBS, resource levelling and availability input to schedule and incorporate risk through QCRA. Conduct EVM analysis to measure and report on project cost performance.
  • Risk and Change Management – implement robust change control processes to assess the impact of changes on the project baseline. Support the project team in identifying, assessing, and mitigating threats and enhancing opportunities, maintaining the project risk register. Integrate risks through the PMB of schedule and cost. Escalate large risks, constraints and dependencies appropriately.
  • Performance Reporting – develop and produce comprehensive performance reports for both internal and external stakeholders. Provide clear and concise analysis of project data, including variance analysis, KPIs, and forecasting to inform decision-making at different levels of the business. Act as a critical friend ensuring project support while maintaining transparency and accurate reporting up the business chain.
  • Information Knowledge Management – develop and maintain systems for management of project data including templates, data flows, reports, drum-beat, stakeholder engagement and comms and document version control and publishing
  • Team leadership – mentor and guide junior project controls professionals, ensuring adherence to company procedures and best practices.

Requirements

  • A good standard of education in English, Maths, Science and Technology subjects
  • Professional certifications in Project Management or Controls from APM, Axelos, ECITB or APMG International
  • A bachelors degree in a technical or business subject (Desirable)
  • A masters in business administration or other advanced qualifications (Desirable)
