About the role
- BI & Reporting Engineer supporting the development of cloud-based analytics solutions at Public Group. Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver high-quality reporting and dashboards.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather reporting and analytics requirements and translate them into technical BI specifications
- Design and develop interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI, leveraging advanced DAX and Power Query capabilities
- Work within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Semantic Models, Direct Lake) to support modern cloud-based BI solutions
- Develop and maintain data models (star schema preferred), ensuring data integrity, consistency, and performance optimization
- Optimize Power BI reports and Fabric datasets for performance, scalability, and efficient resource utilization
- Support data ingestion and transformation processes within Fabric Lakehouse or Warehouse environments
- Implement data security measures (RLS, workspace governance, access controls) to protect sensitive business information
- Provide user support and training to business users on Power BI and reporting best practices
- Contribute to BI governance standards, documentation, and reporting best practices
- Track assigned tasks and deliverables, identify risks, and proactively communicate progress updates
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in Business Intelligence development
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- **Power BI**
- DAX measures
- Power Query (M)
- Familiarity with **Microsoft Fabric concepts** (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Direct Lake) is considered a strong plus
- Experience in designing and developing interactive Power BI reports and dashboards
- Understanding of data modeling best practices (star schema, fact/dimension tables)
- Basic knowledge of SQL for data extraction and querying
- Familiarity with data integration concepts and ETL processes
- Experience with tools like Jira is a plus
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and structured working approach
- Strong willingness to learn and grow in a cloud-first BI environment
- Exposure to Azure data services
- Understanding of performance optimization techniques (model size, aggregation, incremental refresh)
- Experience working in enterprise reporting environments
