About the role

• Backend Developer designing scalable backend services and APIs at GFT. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions in the financial services industry.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable backend services, APIs, and data models supporting communications, experimentation, and personalization use cases
• Deliver well-scoped projects end-to-end, from technical design through production rollout
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Analysts to translate growth strategies into technical solutions
• Contribute to architectural decisions with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability
• Produce clear technical documentation to support asynchronous collaboration
• Follow established engineering standards around security, observability, testing, and performance

Requirements

• Strong experience building backend systems in production environments (typically 5+ years or equivalent depth)
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architectures
• Proven ability to deliver complex backend features independently
• Proficiency in Python, Kotlin, or similar backend languages
• Experience with AWS or another major cloud provider
• Comfortable working remotely with cross-functional partners in an async-first environment
• Able to ramp quickly in an existing codebase and deliver value within a short-term engagement
• Nice to Have
• Experience with experimentation platforms (A/B testing, feature flags)
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and streaming systems (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis)
• Exposure to large-scale personalization, messaging, or growth-focused systems
• Fluent english
