Lead Software Engineer focusing on complex iOS feature delivery for Coles Group's technology team. Providing technical leadership and stewardship across multiple engineering initiatives.
Responsibilities
Design and deliver complex iOS features, acting as the technical owner for assigned initiatives
Own technical execution for initiatives end-to-end, partnering with the Engineering Manager on scope, sequencing, and delivery risks
Proactively identify, assess, and manage technical risks, escalating and mitigating in collaboration with the Engineering Manager
Act as a long-term steward of the iOS platform architecture, standards, and design principles
Maintain a holistic view of iOS platform health, technical debt, and evolution across initiatives
Identify and address systemic risks, architectural drift, and emerging iOS platform concerns
Provide continuity of technical leadership across multiple squads and initiatives using the iOS codebase
Ensure the team is developing software quality in-line with the broader teams’ expectations
Facilitate and govern peer reviews and testing standards
Requirements
Seasoned iOS engineer with deep expertise in iOS platform architecture, frameworks, and design patterns
Demonstrated experience acting as a long-term steward of a largescale, customer facing iOS application
Proven ability to identify systemic technical risks, architectural drift, and cross initiative trade-offs within iOS codebases
Strong experience influencing iOS engineering standards, patterns, and platform direction without formal authority
Experience partnering with Principal Engineers on architectural direction and long-term technical strategy for mobile platforms
Deep understanding of mobile nonfunctional requirements (performance, reliability, security, accessibility, battery usage)
Experience providing technical leadership across multiple squads or initiatives concurrently
Experience collaborating with backend teams on GraphQL schema design and evolution (Typescript based), preferred
