About the role
- Staff Software Engineer developing scalable platform solutions for ClickBus. Focused on DevEx, AI, and operational automation.
Responsibilities
- Ensure continuity and ownership to transform deliverables into scalable platform assets, focusing on three high-value areas:
- DevEx: Creation of Java templates, Golden Paths, and runbook automation.
- AI Platform with MCP as a product: Modularization via HTTP, building shared libraries, distribution via CodeArtifact, and improvements in integration/reliability.
- Operational automation and governance: Building automations (e.g., disabling users in Datadog, creating Jira cards) and data governance tools for AI (authenticated CLI, MCP Marketplace).
- Act as an AI enabler for Engineering teams.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining production solutions (services, libraries, automations, CLIs).
- Proficiency in at least one commonly used language in the ecosystem (ideally Java or Python) and proven experience delivering software in that stack; ability to work in both (even at different levels) is highly desirable.
- Advanced Linux for troubleshooting (processes, networking, permissions, performance, logs), with autonomy in incident response and investigations.
- Strong observability: monitoring, structured logs, distributed tracing, metrics, and the ability to define instrumentation and use signals for diagnosing and improving performance/reliability.
- CI/CD hands-on: experience implementing and maintaining pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions/GitLab CI/ArgoCD), focusing on standardization, reuse, security, and reliability.
- Kubernetes/EKS (or equivalent): solid understanding of how applications run in clusters (deployments, configs, resources, health checks, rollout/rollback, troubleshooting).
- Strong AWS: practical experience with core services and fundamentals of security and networking (IAM, VPC, permissions, cross-account and environment integration), sufficient to design and operate platform solutions.
- Ability to work with high autonomy in a cloud-native, fast-paced environment.
