About the role
- AI Engineer developing AI functionalities for production-oriented chat services at citema systems. Implementing and enhancing orchestration, prompt engineering, and evaluation frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Develop AI functionality for a production-grade chat service
- Implement and enhance agent orchestration, including tool-calling to retrieval systems, knowledge APIs, and ticketing integrations
- Prompt engineering: system and role prompts, response formatting, tone, citation rules, abort and escalation logic
- Build guardrails: prompt injection/jailbreak mitigation, uncertainty handling, source-attribution requirements, policies (including safeguards against negative assertions)
- Contribute to indexing and retrieval pipelines: chunking, metadata, versioning, re-indexing; integration of hybrid data sources
- Establish evaluation and benchmarking: test queries, reference answers, scoring, automated regression tests
- Telemetry and feedback: quality metrics, hallucination flagging, monitoring of AI components
Requirements
- Hands-on experience in LLM engineering (RAG, agentic RAG), including evaluation methods (groundedness, hallucination, robustness)
- Strong software engineering skills (APIs, testing, logging/monitoring), ideally cloud-native
- Knowledge of Azure AI Services and, ideally, Azure AI Search
- Understanding of data protection (PII), data governance, logging minimization, and retention
- Team player, strong documentation skills, reliable in complex stakeholder setups
- Very good spoken and written German required
