Respiratory Therapist providing respiratory therapy services for patient care at Chapters Health System. Evaluating respiratory function and recommending treatments based on assessments.
Responsibilities
Conducts respiratory evaluation of patients as requested by clinical staff.
Determines the need for utilization of respiratory equipment and supplies including BIPAP, CPAP, liquid oxygen, oxygen concentrators, nebulizers, oral and intermittent suction, continuous pulse oximetry and ventilators.
Makes recommendations for respiratory treatments and care based on patient assessment to clinical and medical staff.
Provides routine follow-up and monitoring.
Evaluates treatment effectiveness, patient compliance and safety issues, and recommend changes.
Provides education on respiratory therapy to clinical staff, medical staff and patient/caregiver education regarding respiratory equipment use and maintenance, respiratory medications and treatments, energy conservation, home safety and oxygen safety.
Prepares and maintains required documentation for each assigned patient. Completes documentation in a timely manner and distributes to the appropriate parties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Current Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license
Minimum of two (2) years of respiratory therapy experience
Ability to work as needed and participate in on call schedule
Ability to work unsupervised in the field, exercising some discretion and independent judgment
Well-developed interpersonal skills: ability to problem solve with staff, while maintaining excellent working relationships
Able to communicate clearly in English (written and verbal)
Mobile Driver - Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance per Company policy
Ability to physically access any home (i.e., navigate stairs and narrow spaces, tolerate heat and lack of air conditioning) in any area the Company serves
Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements (including, but not limited to: lifting patients and/or equipment, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling, lift 50 pounds) of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
