About the role

  • Field Service Technician providing mobile repairs for CF Rail Services at customer locations. Responsibilities include delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining quality workmanship standards.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by providing onsite mobile repairs at customer facilities
  • Successfully complete, perform, and maintain the Field Service Apprentice job functions
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Meet the requirements and pass CFRS welding procedures (3/4" plate - all position FCAW)
  • Properly use AAR Rule 1 and various inspection gauges
  • Perform trouble-shooting diagnostics at customer locations based on defect symptoms reported
  • Documented training to set up and operate or drive equipment
  • Wear PPE in appropriate areas
  • Act to support the interests of the department and organization

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Successfully pass the following courses with an 80% or higher score coordinated by CF Rail Management: AAR Interchange Rules, Freight Car Inspection Overview, Basics of Railroad Wheels, FRA Railroad Safety Appliance Standards (Condensed Course), Coupler & Draft Systems course, Guide to Freight Car Trucks course, Body and Truck Side Bearing Gaging and Adjustment Course
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and BRC generation software/ shop operating system
  • Ability to deliver a high level of customer service via phone and face-to-face interaction
  • Documented training to set up and operate or drive equipment such as, but not limited to: forklift, man lift, crane, back hoe, skid loader, hoist or hydraulic boom
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
