About the role
- VMware Virtualization Engineer supporting Navy AEGIS program. Designing, implementing, and supporting secure vSphere environments in a DoD setting.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and administer VMware vSphere / ESXi clusters supporting Navy AEGIS systems.
- Monitor performance, capacity, and availability of virtual infrastructure and implement tuning as needed.
- Collaborate with storage and network teams to ensure highly available, integrated infrastructure services.
- Implement security hardening and support vulnerability remediation in accordance with DISA STIGs and Navy policy.
- Produce and maintain run books, configuration documentation, and change records.
- Provide Tier 3 support for incidents, problems, and change activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience administering VMware vSphere in enterprise environments.
- Active DoD Secret clearance (required on day one).
- Strong knowledge of virtual networking (VLANs, routing, firewalls as related to VMware).
- Experience with backup/restore of virtual machines and data protection.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work onsite in a secure facility.
- Preferred VCP certification or higher.
- Experience in Navy/DoD environments.
- Exposure to vSAN and automation (PowerCLI, Ansible).
