About the role

• Internship in product design at HEIMPLANET, developing outdoor products in a collaborative environment. Focus on materials, sustainability, and creative ideas during a 6-month program in Hamburg.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the entire product development process: Support us actively from initial idea/sketch through concept phases to preparation for series production.
• Concept and design work: Develop ideas, compare variants and prepare design directions.
• Graphic design tasks: Create layouts, presentations, product graphics/branding elements and supporting visuals.
• Materials and component research: Research suitable fabrics and coatings, evaluate samples and help us develop sustainable options.
• Color & Trim development: Delve into color palettes, combinations and details and translate these into coherent proposals.
• Creating functional prototypes: Build functional samples to test construction, handling and details.

Requirements

• You are enrolled in a degree program in product design or a comparable field and are looking for a 6-month required internship.
• Interest in materials, manufacturing and detailing (e.g. fabrics, coatings, trims), including enthusiasm for research, sampling and comparisons.
• Basic knowledge of Adobe tools (especially InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) for designing concepts, graphics and documentation.
• Ideally you have some experience with 3D tools (e.g. Rhino) and a basic understanding of shapes, proportions and construction.
• Hands-on mentality: You enjoy practical work, experimenting and supporting prototyping/functional models.
• Structured, reliable and independent working style.
• You bring enthusiasm for outdoor life and everyday use.
