About the role

  • Genetic Counsellor responsible for coordinating genetics programs and providing genetic counselling at Shared Health. Working collaboratively with genetics team on screening, assessment, and education.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the coordination of the applicable genetics/metabolic program.
  • Genetic counselling and provision of comprehensive follow-up of patients in collaboration with the genetics team.
  • Screening and Assessment.
  • Providing genetic counselling.
  • Administrative Duties.
  • Provision of Genetic Education.
  • Research and Professional Development.

Requirements

  • Master’s of Science degree in Genetics or Genetic Counselling from a recognized training program required.
  • Board eligible/board certified with the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) and/or the Canadian Association of Genetic Counselling (CAGC) required.
  • Eligible for membership with the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors (CACG) and/or The National Society for Genetic Counselors (NSGC).
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
  • Basic knowledge of genetics and counselling skills is required.
