About the role

  • Faculty Member teaching engineering product development and materials science at a young innovative university. Fostering hands-on, design-driven education with a focus on materials and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate, graduate, and professional courses in materials science, advanced manufacturing, and engineering product development, with emphasis on hands-on, project-based learning.
  • Design and deliver courses covering areas such as additive and digital manufacturing, materials processing and characterisation, nano- and functional materials, manufacturing systems, Industry 4.0, and design-for-manufacturing.
  • Develop and continuously refresh curriculum content to reflect emerging trends in materials, manufacturing technologies, sustainability, and digital design–manufacturing integration.
  • Mentor and supervise students at undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral levels on design projects and applied research, fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry relevance.
  • Collaborate with faculty across pillars on interdisciplinary design and research projects that address real-world engineering and societal challenges.
  • Engage industry partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders to build collaborations, support sponsored projects, and contribute to executive education and lifelong learning programmes.

Requirements

  • A proven record of teaching and/or research in areas such as materials design and processing, advanced or additive manufacturing, digital manufacturing, nano- or functional materials, or related topics.
  • Relevant industry or applied research experience in these domains will be considered an advantage.
  • A strong interest in advancing the teaching and learning of design and manufacturing processes within the context of engineering product development, including materials selection, process–structure–property relationships, prototyping, and product realisation.
  • A willingness to address complex, multidisciplinary problems at the intersection of materials, manufacturing, and design, potentially spanning application domains such as sustainability, healthcare, aerospace, energy, or smart manufacturing.
  • The ability to interact effectively both face-to-face and virtually with students, peers, and all relevant stakeholders.
  • The drive to network and engage with funding agencies, industry partners, and professional bodies, and to create impactful collaborations and continuous learning programmes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
