About the role

  • Quality Assurance Leader driving QA processes for an initiative of the European Commission. Collaborating with teams to streamline customs processes and enhance efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive QA strategy aligned with European Commission (EC) standards and best practices.
  • Establish and maintain quality control processes to detect and address defects and deviations throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Continuously assess and refine existing processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify improvement areas, implement corrective actions, and monitor their impact.
  • Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in IT systems and processes.
  • Develop and integrate risk mitigation strategies into project planning and execution.
  • Define and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics to evaluate project success.
  • Generate regular reports for management, highlighting trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with TAXUD policies, EC/industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to address findings and implement corrective measures.
  • Design and deliver training programs to promote awareness of quality standards and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement across IT teams.
  • Evaluate and monitor the quality of deliverables from external service providers to ensure alignment with project expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Certifications such as Certified Quality Manager or Six Sigma are highly desirable.
  • Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive quality initiatives within project timelines.
  • Exceptional analytical skills to identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey quality requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A collaborative mindset to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with IT standards and regulations such as ISO 9001, CMMI, and GDPR.
  • A proactive approach to staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • A meticulous eye for detail to uphold the highest standards of quality in IT deliverables.
  • Strong leadership skills to inspire and guide teams toward achieving quality goals.
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities, work under pressure, and navigate ambiguity with confidence.
  • Excellent command of both spoken and written English (any other European language would be a plus).
