Responsibilities
- Design and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance IBM i system architectures.
- Develop infrastructure strategies that support business continuity, disaster recovery, and future growth.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to the IBM i platform.
- Install, configure, and maintain IBM i operating systems.
- Manage OS upgrades, PTFs, and hardware refresh cycles.
- Monitor and oversee system performance, capacity planning, and tuning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
- Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures using BRMS.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of IBM i systems.
- Plan, organize, and implement technical projects.
- Implement and maintain security policies, user access controls, and audit procedures.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, PCI, Gaming Control Boards).
- Develop and maintain scripts for system and storage administration using CL and SQL.
- Collaborate with application development, network, and security teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience working with IBM i systems in an enterprise environment.
- Proven experience in IBM i system architecture, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
- Strong knowledge of IBM i operating system, CL programming, SQL, and DB2 for i.
- Familiarity with Power Systems hardware and virtualization (PowerVM, HMC).
- Experience with backup/recovery solutions and high availability (HA) technologies.
- Experience with automation and monitoring tools.
- Understanding of network concepts and protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
