About the role
- Senior Automation Engineer developing and embedding workflows into SaaS product n8n. Leading multi-tenant system architecture and driving secure automation solutions.
Responsibilities
- Own the embedded automation architecture: Design the end-to-end architecture for embedding n8n into our product.
- Implement robust multi-tenant isolation so that each organization’s workflows, credentials, and execution data are separated, auditable, and compliant.
- Design and implement secure credential management for embedded workflows, including OAuth app credential strategy and tenant-safe secret handling.
- Own runtime reliability: deployment patterns, monitoring/alerting, backups, upgrades, incident response playbooks, and performance tuning.
- Coordinate delivery across backend engineers, frontend engineers, and DevOps/SRE—driving design reviews, breaking work into milestones, and unblocking execution.
Requirements
- 7+ years professional engineering experience with strong depth in backend/platform engineering (Node.js/TypeScript preferred).
- Proven experience building and operating SaaS multi-tenant systems (tenant isolation, RBAC, auditability, lifecycle management).
- Strong understanding of OAuth2/OIDC, authentication flows, secret management, and secure credential brokering patterns.
- Experience integrating and operating third-party platforms inside a SaaS product, including SSO alignment, logging/monitoring, and scaling.
- Strong systems mindset: reliability engineering, observability, incident response, upgrade strategies, and performance tuning.
- Comfortable leading across teams without becoming a bottleneck: you drive clarity, create momentum, and ship.
- Nice to have: Direct experience with embedded automation/workflow platforms (n8n, Temporal, Camunda, Airflow, etc.).
- Experience with enterprise identity providers (Keycloak/Okta/Auth0), SAML/OIDC SSO, or multi-IdP setups.
- Experience building embedded product surfaces (iframes, embedded editors) with secure session boundaries.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, message queues, and integration ecosystems.
- Familiarity with compliance-driven environments (SOC2, GDPR) and audit logging requirements.
