About the role

  • MRO Inventory Specialist ensuring maintenance parts are available and accurate for manufacturing operations. Supporting reliability initiatives and maintaining storeroom standards for efficient workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory levels for maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) parts, tools, and consumables
  • Perform daily transactions including receiving, issuing, and returning parts with a high level of accuracy
  • Conduct routine cycle counts and participate in physical inventories; identify, investigate, and resolve inventory variances
  • Maintain defined min/max levels, reorder points, and safety stock based on usage, lead time, and equipment criticality
  • Identify obsolete, slow-moving, or duplicate inventory and support reduction initiatives
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and visually managed storeroom using 5S and standard work
  • Ensure parts are properly labeled, stored, and protected according to OEM, safety, and quality standards
  • Support layout optimization and kitting strategies to improve maintenance efficiency
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities by staging parts and kits in advance of scheduled work
  • Ensure critical spare parts are clearly identified and always available to prevent unplanned downtime
  • Partner with Maintenance and Reliability teams to improve parts BOM accuracy and equipment associations
  • Participate in downtime investigations and root cause analysis where parts availability or quality is a factor
  • Create and track purchase requisitions and work with Procurement to ensure timely delivery of MRO materials
  • Follow up on backorders, shortages, and expedited orders to support maintenance needs
  • Assist in managing vendor performance related to lead times, quality, and responsiveness
  • Accurately transact inventory in the CMMS/ERP system JD Edwards (e.g., SAP, Maximo, Oracle)
  • Maintain accurate part descriptions, locations, quantities, and equipment associations
  • Track and support key storeroom KPIs such as inventory accuracy, service level, critical spare coverage, and stock turns
  • Follow standard work and support audits related to inventory, safety, and quality systems
  • Follow all plant safety rules, food safety requirements, and environmental policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of experience in an industrial storeroom, warehouse, maintenance support, or manufacturing environment
  • Experience using a CMMS or inventory management system
  • Ability to work variable schedule, including overtime, weekends, or off-shift support as required
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Strong attention to detail and disciplined execution of standard work
  • Ability to work independently while supporting cross-functional teams
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical spare parts
  • Ability to read equipment manuals, parts diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Proficiency with inventory systems and basic computer applications (Excel, CMMS)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Effective communication skills with maintenance technicians, planners, and supervisors
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials in an industrial storeroom environment
