About the role
- Strategic buyer for steel managing supplier relationships and procurement analytics. Joining a stable and innovative company in the steel industry.
Responsibilities
- Independent and continuous procurement market analysis and supplier sourcing
- Profitability and TCO analyses; development and implementation of the global purchasing and supplier strategy for the steel commodity (raw material)
- Responsibility for building and expanding an international steel supplier pool
- Conduct targeted, efficient and successful price negotiations regarding quantities, prices, delivery dates, delivery terms, cost allocation and warranties
- Preparation of raw material reports; consolidation of similar material requirements based on planning data to optimize purchasing conditions
- Driving the standardization of materials and processes; developing and optimizing processes within the commodity groups
- Development and expansion of the international steel procurement strategy in close collaboration with internal stakeholders
- Securing contractual prerequisites and concluding procurement contracts (framework agreements, etc.)
Requirements
- Completed technical vocational training (technician) with solid commercial knowledge; a completed technical degree is desirable
- Several years of experience in strategic procurement, ideally in the steel industry with a steel trader/distributor in purchasing or sales of steel (raw material)
- Strong network in the steel industry across Europe and Asia
- Resilience, self-motivation and strong organizational skills
- Strong negotiation skills, reliable, team-oriented and goal-driven
- Independent, conceptual and structured way of working
- Business-fluent English, written and spoken; additional foreign language skills desirable
