About the role

  • Project Engineer coordinating projects for national security at the Y12 National Security Complex. Engaging in planning, design, implementation, and technical coordination in nuclear facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project engineering support necessary to complete planning, design and implementation of new machine tools and/or infrastructure upgrades.
  • Provide technical integration, leadership, guidance, and direction to other multi-disciplined engineering teams as requested for high profile plant initiatives and will appropriately apply ASME Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) requirements for work in nuclear facilities;
  • Plan and direct the engineering activities on projects;
  • Establish detailed project design scope, budgets, and schedules;
  • Professionally coordinate engineering efforts with Production, Maintenance, Project Management, Construction, Startup, and Project Controls personnel;
  • Review project engineering progress against approved schedules and take corrective action when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited school in a technical discipline, plus 10 years or more of direct experience required, or an MA or MS with 10 plus years of experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Successful drug screening.
  • Requires a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
