Responsibilities
Conduct geotechnical investigations, analyses, and design for transportation-related projects, including slope stabilization, earthworks, foundations, and earth retention systems
Prepare technical reports and contribute to proposal development
Complete field logs of boreholes in both soil and rock during subsurface investigations
Perform field inspections and site visits during construction phases
Interpret in situ and laboratory test results and instrumentation data
Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to ensure quality and technical excellence
Support project delivery, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with internal teams and clients
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff as appropriate
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
5–8 years of relevant industry experience, or 3–6 years with a master’s degree
Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the USA within 1 year of hire
Experience with field investigation techniques such as soil visual-manual descriptions, rock core logging, SPT sampling, CPT soundings, test pits, and geophysical surveys
Solid understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical design principles, including limit equilibrium analysis, ASD and LRFD foundation analysis, and lateral earth pressure and earth retention
Familiarity with geotechnical software such as SLOPE/W, Slide2, RSPile, LPile, PLAXIS, or similar
Strong written and verbal communication skills
