About the role

  • SFS Project Manager leading financial operations projects related to NYSDOT’s Statewide Financial System in Albany, NY. Overseeing project team and delivering on key objectives with state agency stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage BerryDunn’s project team and be responsible for overall project delivery. • Work closely with the NYSDOT Finance Office to manage the scope, schedule, budget, quality, and delivery of NYSDOT’s projects. • Report project status to NYSDOT on an agreed-to basis. • Schedule and run meetings, document meeting minutes, and present information to executives, project staff, and interested/involved/impacted parties. • Report and manage tasks and risk/issues to help ensure timely execution and overall delivery. • Develop a detailed project approach document including a resource plan on how work will be approached and coordinated with NYSDOT staff. • Provide analysis and expertise as necessary to ongoing and future projects related to NYSDOT’s use of SFS and other systems related to NYSDOT finance activities. • Facilitate discussions with NYSDOT subject matter experts to identify program requirements and develop current and future state workflow for various business processes. • Oversee and/or assist with drafting/preparing of business cases for changes to SFS functionality. • Oversee and/or assist with analysis of configurations developed by SFS. • Oversee and/or assist with review of testing scenarios and test scripts for various transactions. • Oversee and/or assist with provision of recommendations on future-state reporting needs based on current reporting structure and future-state capabilities of SFS and SFS Analytics. • Oversee and/or assist with facilitation of change management activities at NYSDOT. • Oversee and/or assist with development of tools to regularly communicate with NYSDOT staff, including, but not limited to, websites, emails, workshops, and conference calls. • Oversee and/or assist with use of tools to monitor and measure NYSDOT end-user abilities to use SFS. • Oversee and/or assist with provision of end-user support with SFS transactions via periodic communications to NYSDOT staff, conference calls, workshops, fast-track calls, monitoring of group email accounts, and maintenance of internal NYSDOT SFS Support SharePoint site.

Requirements

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a project manager leading complex projects related to financial operations. • Current experience providing project oversight services for state government organizations or similar corporations related to financial operations. • Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑year, multi‑stakeholder initiatives with significant financial, operational, or technical components. • Knowledge of quality assurance/control procedures and demonstrated proactive problem management skills. • Knowledge of various SDLC methodologies and related processes/artifacts. • Ability to balance multiple assignments and achieve quality results in a timely manner. • Demonstrated critical thinking and logical reasoning skills. • Ability to use problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills to identify project risks/issues and develop/communicate recommendations to address them in a constructive manner. • Ability to build and sustain positive working relationships with diverse teams. • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience developing client‑facing documentation. • Experience facilitating meetings and public speaking with large groups. • Proficiency with Microsoft applications and standard project management tools.
