About the role
- Senior Planning Engineer delivering complex civil engineering works for energy infrastructure projects in Scotland. Collaborating on project delivery and planning techniques with various teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining detailed programmes in P6 from first principles including resource loading
- Integration and management of sub-contractor and supplier programmes with our own
- Assimilate and interpret information from tender and project documentation
- Understand civil construction techniques and developing them into a working programme
- Coordinate with estimators and commercial teams on all programme aspects
- Compile concise narratives, phasing, reports and supporting documents for input into quality submissions for tenders and projects
- Take ownership of the programme to drive project delivery
- Utilise a number of planning techniques and tools to communicate the programme effectively
- Contribute, support and communicate programme information, risk and commercial issues to operational teams in a variety of formats
- Chair collaborative planning workshops with clients, operational teams and subcontractors (depending on Project requirements)
- Update and monitor project progress, compile reports against project and contract requirements
- Introduce and analyse change in programmes and support the commercial teams
- Evaluate supply chain and subcontract programmes
- Comply with business processes and systems
- Maintain awareness of latest construction techniques.
Requirements
- Experience of delivering programme under the NEC form of contract is preferable
- At least 5 years’ planning experience
- A qualification in Civil Engineering/Construction to HND level or equivalent is preferred but not essential
- Competent in the use of various planning software, P6 is a must
- A demonstrable ability to develop, own and drive programmes
- The ability to communicate effectively with all parties
- Comfortable in presenting and client facing situations
- Ability for logical thinking and working in an ordered fashion
- Experience in producing summary construction or project control information in excel and Power BI would be an advantage
- Tender experience would be an advantage
- Strong commercial and contractual acumen with a track record of change management within NEC contracts.
