About the role

  • Rail Apprenticeship offering practical experience and academic learning in railway engineering. Preparing candidates for a career in maintaining and repairing on-track machines in the UK rail industry.

Responsibilities

  • Gain knowledge, skills and practical experience needed to maintain and repair on-track machines
  • Complete academic learning and practical experience within railway engineering
  • Shadow experienced engineers and fitters, conduct routine inspections, and basic repairs
  • Participate in safety briefings and diagnostic activities
  • Gain exposure to various engineering work including machine calibration and asset maintenance

Requirements

  • 5 National 5s or GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, including Maths, English and Science.
  • Your placement is conditional on successfully completing a Drugs and Alcohol Screening and a Railway Medical.
