About the role
- Compliance Engineer ensuring safety and assurance at high-hazard operations for Babcock. Supporting national security and engineering excellence at HMNB Clyde Faslane with compliance monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Supporting compliance monitoring across high-risk engineering activities, including design, installation, maintenance, testing and inspection.
- Providing clear advice and guidance to operational departments, contractors and project teams.
- Developing technical competence to become a topic specialist in key engineering areas.
- Contributing to compliance checks, incident investigations and planned audit activity.
- Building knowledge of industry best practice for asset care, working at height, confined spaces, lifting operations, pressure systems, electrical testing and more.
Requirements
- Experience working within a highly regulated, high-hazard industrial environment.
- Operational experience within at least one relevant discipline (e.g., lifting operations, pressure systems, electrical testing, working at height, confined spaces).
- Understanding of engineering compliance, safety management and regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to interpret technical information and provide clear, practical guidance.
- Comfortable engaging with diverse stakeholders across engineering and operations.
- HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services or Fire Management Disciplines).
- IOSH Managing Safely or IOSH Risk Management qualification.
- Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
