About the role
- Calibration Support Engineer ensuring accuracy and reliability of equipment critical to engineering and maintenance at Babcock's Devonport Royal Dockyard. Manage logistics and maintain strong internal and customer relationships.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the equipment that underpins engineering and maintenance operations.
- Building strong relationships with internal teams and customers.
- Solving problems and helping to continually improve how calibration services are delivered.
- Managing the receipt, dispatch and logistics of instruments, including arranging collections and deliveries.
- Assisting customers with enquiries and technical questions, reviewing specifications to ensure accurate support.
- Updating and maintaining the equipment database with timely, accurate information.
- Conducting routine onsite audits to ensure correct status control and compliance with quality standards.
- Supporting the mechanical calibration team and helping to maintain smooth coordination between customers and laboratory operations.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence engaging customers and colleagues.
- A customer‑focused approach with excellent attention to detail and a methodical working style.
- Proficiency with IT systems, including Microsoft Office and digital workflow tools.
- A dependable, professional manner and the ability to deliver work consistently and accurately.
- Level 3 qualification and relevant engineering experience.
- Ideally, completion of a recognised apprenticeship in an associated discipline.
- The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
