About the role

  • Calibration Support Engineer ensuring accuracy and reliability of equipment critical to engineering and maintenance at Babcock's Devonport Royal Dockyard. Manage logistics and maintain strong internal and customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the equipment that underpins engineering and maintenance operations.
  • Building strong relationships with internal teams and customers.
  • Solving problems and helping to continually improve how calibration services are delivered.
  • Managing the receipt, dispatch and logistics of instruments, including arranging collections and deliveries.
  • Assisting customers with enquiries and technical questions, reviewing specifications to ensure accurate support.
  • Updating and maintaining the equipment database with timely, accurate information.
  • Conducting routine onsite audits to ensure correct status control and compliance with quality standards.
  • Supporting the mechanical calibration team and helping to maintain smooth coordination between customers and laboratory operations.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence engaging customers and colleagues.
  • A customer‑focused approach with excellent attention to detail and a methodical working style.
  • Proficiency with IT systems, including Microsoft Office and digital workflow tools.
  • A dependable, professional manner and the ability to deliver work consistently and accurately.
  • Level 3 qualification and relevant engineering experience.
  • Ideally, completion of a recognised apprenticeship in an associated discipline.
  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
