About the role
- Real Estate Lawyer advising on legal aspects of real property transactions at AT&T. Collaborating with business units and external counsel in a fast-paced telecommunications environment.
Responsibilities
- Advise executive leadership and business teams on all legal matters pertaining to real estate, including acquisitions, dispositions, and development of property to support company operations and network expansion.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of real estate contracts, such as purchase and sale agreements, leases, subleases, easements, licenses, and rights-of-way.
- Manage due diligence for real estate transactions, identifying potential risks and ensuring clear title, environmental compliance, and resolution of encumbrances or liens.
- Oversee land use, zoning, and permitting processes for construction and operation of telecommunications facilities.
- Direct outside counsel and coordinate with internal legal, compliance, and risk management teams to manage litigation or disputes related to real estate assets.
- Develop and implement real estate policies, best practices, and training materials to ensure consistent risk management and regulatory compliance across the company.
- Monitor changes in real estate law, telecommunications regulations, and industry standards, proactively advising stakeholders of impacts to business operations.
- Join a team of in-house real estate attorneys and paralegals, fostering professional growth and high performance.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; active and good standing with a state bar.
- 10+ years of experience in real estate law, with a proven track record in complex commercial transactions, preferably in the telecommunications, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
- Extensive experience negotiating and closing purchases, sales, leases, and easements of commercial and industrial properties.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple high-value projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
