About the role
- Senior Director Network Strategy overseeing AstraZeneca's biologics manufacturing network. Driving strategic evolution of the biologics drug substance platform within Global Supply Chain.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive network strategies for the biologics drug substance platform across AstraZeneca's global operations
- Lead strategic evaluations of our supply chain footprint, including make-vs-buy decisions and contract manufacturing partnerships
- Drive capacity planning by analyzing portfolio demand and aligning supply options to meet current and future requirements
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Biologics Global Technical Operations, BPD, Global Engineering, and GSSDs to integrate emerging pipeline technologies into our network strategy
- Evaluate and optimize asset utilization, identifying opportunities for network optimization and efficiency improvements
- Design the biologics drug substance network to support AstraZeneca's exciting pipeline of breakthrough therapies and emerging modalities
- Provide strategic input on capital allocation decisions with direct accountability for CapEx prioritization within your platform
- Assess financial implications of strategic options, analyzing impact on CapEx, OpEx, and inventory optimization
- Represent Global Operations in senior cross-functional decision-making forums
- Partner closely with Global Biologics Operations and Biopharmaceutical Development teams
- Influence product development processes to ensure effective supply chain design for new biologics
- Act as an external ambassador for AstraZeneca's Global Operations function
Requirements
- 10-15 years in biologics manufacturing, supply chain, or strategic operations roles
- Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams and driving strategic initiatives
- Expertise in biologics drug substance manufacturing processes and technologies
- Strong background in supply chain design, capacity planning, and network optimization
- Experience in pharmaceutical product development processes and regulatory environments
