About the role
- Technical Director, Structures overseeing bridge and structural engineering deliverables for MTO transportation projects. Leading multi-disciplinary teams and ensuring compliance with MTO standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for bridge and structural engineering deliverables
- Work closely with geotechnical, roadway, drainage, and other disciplines
- Ensure technical excellence, appropriate governance, and consistent quality across complex transportation projects
- Act as a senior technical advisor and reviewer for bridge/structural and geotechnical interfaces
- Provide consultancy services for projects and develop solutions for complex MTO requirements
- Manage technical risk mitigation, safety in design, and value in design and delivery processes
- Support staff development by coaching and mentoring on bridge design and MTO-specific issues
- Establish and consolidate relationships with MTO and other public sector clients
Requirements
- 15–20+ years consulting experience delivering MTO (or similar) transportation infrastructure projects, including leading complex multi-disciplinary teams across structures (bridges), geotechnical, roadway, and related disciplines
- P.Eng Ontario
- Demonstrated technical authority in bridge/structural engineering with strong understanding of geotechnical considerations (foundations, retaining systems, slopes/earthworks), plus commercial and project delivery acumen
- Previous relevant experience including leadership of the development and implementation of bridge/structural and geotechnical engineering solutions for MTO projects, including technical governance, independent checks, and design reviews
- Previously worked in a Technical Director, Structures Lead, or senior structural/bridge engineering leadership role with significant MTO bridges experience and proven ability to lead complex multi-disciplinary teams
