About the role

  • Senior Engineer managing track alignment design projects within Arcadis' Global Excellence Centre. Focused on delivering high-quality sustainable engineering solutions across diverse client projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage track alignment design projects, including switch and crossover design, platform design, track componentry, regression analysis, stressing, track bed design, gauging analysis, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Take ownership of project delivery ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and company quality management plans.
  • Review and approve design calculations, models, drawings, and reports prepared by junior engineers, driving a culture of accuracy and accountability.
  • Develop and implement technical methodologies that add value to project scopes and align with client and organisational objectives.
  • Create and maintain templates, checklists, and standard processes to enhance design efficiency and quality.
  • Proactively engage with clients and regional teams to define task scopes, develop plans and budgets for medium to complex projects, and monitor progress.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and support their professional development, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the GEC Management system related to project execution and quality standards.
  • Ensure adherence to BIM standards by managing project documentation within the CDE environment and leveraging BIM/Digital data analytics tools.
  • Champion health, safety, and wellbeing (HS&W) practices and safe design principles across projects.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, internal stakeholders across GBAs, and external clients to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Innovate and promote the adoption of sustainable design solutions, new technologies, and automation to improve project delivery and sustainability outcomes.
  • Development and enhancement of standardised design processes and contribute to automation initiatives.

Requirements

  • Strong foundation in track geometry and alignment design principles under varying conditions.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in track alignment design within rail projects, including both brownfield and greenfield environments.
  • Proven experience managing medium to large scale rail infrastructure projects, preferably with exposure to Indian and international contexts.
  • Proficient in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bentley Power Rail Track/OpenRail Designer, Civil 3D, ProVi, or equivalents.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying engineering codes, standards, and regulations with the ability to propose solutions when limitations arise.
  • Experience in BIM and digital data analytics tools, with a good understanding of multidisciplinary design processes.
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and leadership skills with a track record of successfully managing teams and projects.
  • Relevant professional accreditation or actively pursuing accreditation is highly desirable.
