Lead the end-to-end US indirect tax strategy for Anrok's physical goods offering. Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to implement tax compliance solutions.
Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end US indirect tax strategy for Anrok's physical goods offering, including taxability research, nexus analysis, rate determination, and exemption handling across all US jurisdictions.
Build and maintain the tax content and rules engine logic that powers accurate sales tax calculations for tangible personal property transactions.
Partner closely with Product and Engineering to translate complex tax requirements into scalable platform features and automations.
Develop compliance frameworks for physical goods filing, registration, and remittance that integrate with Anrok's existing infrastructure.
Monitor legislative and regulatory changes across US states and municipalities, and proactively update Anrok's tax content accordingly.
Work with onboarding and support teams to successfully transition users onto Anrok, and assist with any tax technical issues.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in US state and local indirect tax, with meaningful depth in tangible personal property / physical goods taxability across multiple jurisdictions.
You've worked in a tax technology company, Big 4 / advisory firm, or in-house tax team at an e-commerce or retail business—ideally with exposure to building or scaling tax automation.
You have a strong command of product taxability rules, exemption certificates, nexus standards (physical and economic), and multi-state filing requirements for physical goods.
You're comfortable working cross-functionally with Product and Engineering teams and can translate tax nuance into clear, actionable requirements.
You love solving ambiguous problems and are energized by building something new rather than maintaining the status quo.
You have an entrepreneurial attitude and passion to build a business from the ground up.
You communicate complex tax concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including customers.
