About the role

  • Project Development Engineer at Ameresco responsible for measuring and modeling energy efficiency improvements. Collaborating on energy and water conservation and renewable energy opportunities in the Northeast Region.

Responsibilities

  • Measuring and modeling energy
  • Using and evaluating new technologies
  • Renewables and retrofitting existing equipment to improve efficiency
  • Performing ASHRAE audits
  • Collaborating with Design and Construction for proper planning
  • Supporting and potentially leading energy and water efficiency improvements
  • Developing renewable energy and storage opportunities
  • Working on and collaborating with teams on Ameresco-led projects
  • Identifying and evaluating energy and water conservation opportunities
  • Preparing energy savings calculations
  • Developing baseline profiles
  • Providing retrofit analyses
  • Preparing preliminary design (30%) of proposed energy improvements
  • Collaborating with local contractors for budgetary pricing
  • Coordinating design and development activities
  • Preparing engineering design and bid documents
  • Preparing cost estimates, drawings, and specifications
  • Preparing and populating internal financial models
  • Developing Measurement and Verification plans for projects
  • Providing engineering guidance throughout development and operations
  • Executing project implementation that meets or exceeds objectives
  • Complying with safety standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience acting in an energy or project development engineering role
  • Experience with site auditing
  • Utility data analysis
  • Project development
  • Energy and water savings calculations and modeling
  • Renewable energy calculations and modeling
  • Energy studies
  • Face-to-face customer interaction
  • Financial analysis
  • Various contracting models
  • Rebate and incentives
  • Performance contracting
  • Professional Certifications or education progress toward certification viewed as favorable for position requirements (EIT, PE, MBA, CEM, NABCEP)
  • Knowledge of HVAC, lighting, water, metering, and energy generation technologies
  • Knowledge of solar PV modeling and applications
  • Demonstrated skills in priority organization
