About the role

  • Quantum & RF Characterization Engineer at Alice & Bob, developing the first universal quantum computer and supporting characterization of quantum chips and devices.

Responsibilities

  • Study issues related to the quantum / cryogenic / room-temperature environments and propose projects/POCs to address them.
  • Organize and manage your projects; coordinate with other managers for cross-team initiatives.
  • Propose and help implement a testing environment for projects you initiated or have been assigned.
  • Develop a measurement plan.
  • Lead and perform tests, characterizations, and measurements, with support from instrumentation engineers and colleagues from the Platform team.
  • Advance TRL validations to the level required by the management team.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues related to the test chip, cryogenic environment, or instrumentation/control electronics.
  • Monitor state-of-the-art developments for instrumentation used in quantum control electronics and quantum test chips.
  • Work closely with other engineering teams, including your teammate, Quantum Hardware Infrastructure colleagues, physicists, and software engineers, to ensure seamless alignment of hardware and software in our quantum processors.
  • Ensure all design processes, test results, and system configurations are thoroughly documented. Provide regular updates and reports to your manager and the team on project progress and timelines.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Quantum Experimental Physics, EEE, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in experimental work in quantum mechanics, preferably in superconducting quantum circuits.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and positive attitude.
  • Experience working with electrical test equipment (oscilloscope, VNA, spectrum analyzer, multimeter, etc.).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including software engineers, physicists, and hardware suppliers.
  • Experience in software programming (Python).
  • Business proficiency in English is mandatory.
  • Nice to have: business proficiency in French preferred; in-depth knowledge of RF systems, characterization, and debugging, particularly in high-frequency and metrology environments; strong scientific writing skills; familiarity with KiCad is a plus.
