About the role

  • Senior Ab Initio Developer working with Data Architects and Analysts to optimize complex ETL processes. Engaging in projects related to Data Governance and ensuring data quality within modern architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Data Architects, Business Analysts, and infrastructure teams to implement solutions
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain complex ETL processes using Ab Initio to efficiently process large volumes of data from diverse source systems
  • Deploy, administer, and configure core Ab Initio components such as Graphical Development Environment (GDE), Co>Operating System, Express>It, and Metadata Hub
  • Design and implement robust data pipelines for batch and streaming processing
  • Ensure data quality, integration, and modeling within modern data engineering architectures
  • Leverage the Ab Initio Metadata Hub for documentation, lineage analysis, and governance of data flows
  • Perform performance tuning and root-cause analysis for complex graphs and processes to stabilize production operations
  • Actively contribute to projects related to data governance, data catalogs, and regulatory requirements (e.g., DORA)
  • Document and present technical solutions to internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

  • Degree in (business) computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a comparable qualification
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Deep expertise with at least 3–5 years’ experience in Ab Initio, particularly working with GDE, Co>Operating System, Express>It, and Metadata Hub
  • Several years of experience designing and maintaining complex ETL architectures
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, databases (e.g., Oracle, Teradata, PostgreSQL), and Unix/Linux scripting
  • Solid understanding of metadata management, data lineage, and data governance
  • Experience optimizing performance and debugging complex ETL processes
  • Familiarity with batch and streaming processing (e.g., Kafka, Spark) is a plus
  • Strong consulting skills with the ability to confidently guide clients through complex technical projects
  • Experience in agile project environments and proficiency with tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Analytical thinking, strong quality orientation, and a structured working style
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills for effective coordination with technical and business stakeholders
