About the role

  • Historical Interpreter engaging visitors by leading tours and presenting educational programs about Alberta's history. Collaborating with a team and providing customer service while maintaining visitor facilities in various historic locations.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with a small team to lead tours of historic sites
  • Participate in planning, development, and presentation of educational programs
  • Coordinate craft and skill demonstrations
  • Collect admission fees and visitor statistics
  • Promote events and manage gift shop sales
  • Maintain general order of visitor facilities
  • Required to work weekends
  • Occasional travel and off-site work may be required

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to learn large amounts of information quickly
  • Ability to confidently speak and work with a range of audiences
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small workplace team
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry moderate loads
  • Basic understanding of the history of Alberta
  • Interest in historical interpretation
  • Communication, creativity, and organizational skills
  • Post-secondary education and/or experience in relevant fields is an asset
  • Customer service experience is an asset
  • Experience with children and seniors is an asset
  • Fluency in French and/or Indigenous languages is an asset
