About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design and operationalize the FinOps model (rituals, inputs/outputs, RACI with SRE/Platform and Finance), ensuring cadence and governance.
  • Create, implement and maintain the tagging/cost allocation policy (taxonomy by product/team/environment/cost center), ensuring activation and consistent use in cost reports.
  • Consolidate inventory of AWS accounts and services, ensuring transparency of owners and cost traceability.
  • Manage the monthly invoice routine (extraction, organization, validation and delivery to FP&A/business), ensuring deadlines and quality of evidence.
  • Operate and evolve provisioning and evidence routines (e.g., screenshots and provisioning artifacts), supporting financial close.
  • Implement cost and anomaly monitoring (thresholds, alerts, triage, RCA and retrospectives), coordinating response with Engineering/SRE.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and strategic indicators: planned vs actual, forecast accuracy, realized savings vs potential, unallocated spend, allocation coverage and product-level KPIs.
  • Perform cost driver analyses (compute, storage, data transfer and managed services), identifying opportunities and consolidating a Savings Pipeline with ROI estimates.
  • Lead governance of commitments (Savings Plans / Reserved Instances) with baseline analysis, risk and cost-benefit assessments, supporting renewals and executive decisions.
  • Influence engineering and product teams with actionable recommendations (prioritization by ROI x effort x risk) and executive storytelling to support decision-making.
  • Support the definition and evolution of showback/chargeback, ensuring consistency and transparency in cost allocation.
  • Document processes, policies and standards (including flows and guides), ensuring reproducibility, auditability and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting or related fields.
  • Postgraduate degree completed or in progress in Finance, Data/Analytics, Cloud, Technology Management or related areas.
  • Professional experience: Solid experience in FinOps/Cloud Financial Management, with hands-on work in AWS and interaction with engineering, SRE, Data and finance teams; Experience with tagging/cost allocation governance, chargeback/showback, forecast/budget routines and variance management; Experience managing an optimization backlog (rightsizing, lifecycle, commitments), ROI estimation and value-driven prioritization; Experience building dashboards and executive metrics (planned vs actual, savings, forecast accuracy).
  • Technical knowledge: AWS Cost Management (Billing, Cost Explorer, Budgets, Cost Anomaly Detection and Cost & Usage Report/CUR), including best practices for categorization/allocations; Tagging and governance coverage (definition of mandatory keys, standards, compliance auditing, and support for guardrails with SRE/IaC); Data analysis: advanced Excel and SQL; Python is a plus (automation and data pipelines); BI tools (Power BI, QuickSight or equivalent) and data modeling; Understanding of major AWS cost drivers (compute, storage, network/data transfer, managed services) and the ability to read/explain invoices; Knowledge of the FinOps Framework (capabilities such as Allocation and Anomaly Management).
  • Desired certifications: FinOps Certified Practitioner (or equivalent), AWS Cloud Practitioner/Solutions Architect Associate, and courses in cloud economics.
