Responsibilities

  • We are seeking candidates with hands-on GDPR experience, including DSARs, DPIAs and privacy compliance, for roles with leading law firms and in-house teams
  • By applying to this opportunity, you are not applying for a specific paralegal vacancy. Instead, you will be added to our Paralegal talent pool, and we will consider you for suitable GDPR and privacy-related roles with our clients as and when opportunities arise
  • Opportunities may be with a variety of organisations, including law firms and in-house legal teams
  • Assignments may range from short-term paralegal roles lasting a few weeks, to longer placements of several months, as well as permanent positions where you would be hired directly by our clients

Requirements

  • A law degree or equivalent (LLB, GDL or SQE1) is beneficial and may open up additional opportunities, as some clients require a level of prior legal training
  • At least 3 months’ hands-on experience in a paralegal role involving GDPR and data protection work
  • This experience should include exposure to some or all of the following typical GDPR paralegal tasks : Supporting responses to Data Subject Access Requests and other Data Subject Rights Requests , including document review, redaction and deadline tracking
  • Assisting with data protection compliance matters and maintaining GDPR documentation, including records of processing activities and records management
  • Conducting data mapping and helping identify personal data across systems
  • Supporting the review, drafting or updating privacy notices, policies and procedures
  • Assisting with data breach management , including fact-finding, documentation and regulatory reporting support
  • Supporting or assisting with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) , including information gathering, risk identification and documenting mitigation measures
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders, IT teams or external counsel on GDPR and privacy-related queries
  • Carrying out privacy-focused legal research relating to the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
  • Highly organised with strong time-management skills
  • Ability to conduct legal research and organise data and information efficiently
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • Technologically proficient
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team
  • Confident, with good emotional intelligence
