About the role

  • Accountant responsible for day-to-day accounting practices, reconciliations, and month-end reporting at DRS Pivotal Power. Working at the hybrid office in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Perform moderately complex tasks for the company’s accounting function
  • Maintain general ledger accounts, reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations
  • Assist with month end and year end closing processes
  • Assist with accounts payable / receivable as required
  • Support preparation of financial statements and management reports
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with audits, tax filings and regulatory reporting
  • Identify and recommend process improvements and efficiencies
  • Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on best practices
  • Collaborate with the finance team and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial records

Requirements

  • Degree/diploma in Accounting with 2-3 years directly related experience
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong foundation in financial accounting and tax basics
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience with accounting/ERP systems
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage deadlines during close periods
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Collaborative approach with internal and external stakeholders
