About the role
- Senior IT Engineer responsible for IT infrastructure design and security. Role involves risk management, systems support, and technical mentorship in a hybrid work setting.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), including user lifecycle management, Conditional Access, MFA, and role-based access control (RBAC).
- Manage on-prem Active Directory, including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and hybrid AD configurations.
- Administer Microsoft Intune for device management (Windows, macOS, mobile), including compliance policies, configuration profiles, and application deployment.
- Manage Exchange Online / Exchange hybrid environments, including mail flow, security, retention, and troubleshooting.
- Design, deploy, and maintain virtualization environments, including Proxmox VE (VMs, LXC containers, backups, clustering, storage).
- Manage storage solutions (local, SAN/NAS, ZFS, backups, snapshots, replication).
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability; proactively resolve issues.
- Configure and support enterprise networking environments, including: Switching and routing (VLANs, trunking, STP), Firewalls and VPNs (site-to-site and remote access), Network security best practices.
- Implement and maintain security best practices across endpoints, servers, and identity platforms.
- Support compliance initiatives (e.g., CMMC, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar).
- Manage patching, vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection, and logging.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
- Maintain the ticketing system and work issues as they arrive within SLA.
- Create and maintain documentation for systems, procedures, and configurations.
- Assist with training and support for end users.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in a senior IT or systems engineering role.
- Strong experience with: Azure AD / Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, Active Directory (on-prem and hybrid), Exchange / Exchange Online, experience with virtualization platforms (Proxmox strongly preferred; VMware/Hyper-V acceptable).
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, firewalls, VPNs, and DNS.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across systems, networking, and identity.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
